Straight Shank Hammer Bits - These Straight Shank Heat-Treated Hammer Bits are designed to be used in standard rotary and rotary-percussion drill motors. They are an excellent, heavy duty bit for hammering through most masonry materials including hard, slag-concrete. These bits are constructed with harder steel and a stronger carbide tip welding process than rotary masonry bits. They are made to withstand repetitive percussion blows in tough drilling applications and have a standard straight shank that is compatible with any three jaw chuck, rotary percussion drill. NOTE: This bit is also sometimes used in applications where extremely hard steel is encountered, and standard High Speed Steel or Cobalt bits are not able to penetrate. The superior brazing process, heat treated hardened body, and precision ground carbide tip allow this bit also be used as an economical solution for drilling into dies, bearing races, and safes. Low to Medium RPM's, steady drilling pressure, and the use of cutting fluid while drilling can provide excellent results in hard steel applications.
